Position Title: Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist
Department: Early Childhood Development
Location: Various Locations: Palm Beach County, Broward County

Position Summary

The Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS) provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to age 3) with developmental delays or disabilities. The ITDS works closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to promote the child’s development in cognitive, motor, communication, social-emotional, and adaptive skills. Services are delivered in natural environments, such as the home or childcare settings, in accordance with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).

Key Responsibilities

1. Service Provision:

  • Conduct developmental assessments using standardized tools to evaluate the needs and strengths of children.
  • Collaborate with families and caregivers to develop individualized intervention strategies based on the child’s needs.
  • Implement evidence-based developmental activities to address identified goals.
  • Provide parent coaching and modeling to empower caregivers in supporting their child’s development.
  • Monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed.

2. Family Support and Engagement:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families to support their active participation in their child’s development.
  • Provide information, resources, and referrals to community services to address family needs.
  • Educate families on typical developmental milestones and strategies to promote skill acquisition.

3. Collaboration:

  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss the child’s progress and update the IFSP.
  • Collaborate with therapists, educators, and medical professionals to ensure a holistic approach to intervention.
  • Maintain regular communication with the service coordinator regarding case updates.

4. Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and timely records, including progress notes, IFSP documentation, and service logs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for early intervention services (e.g., IDEA Part C).
  • Adhere to agency policies and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and families in developmental intervention settings preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (Required).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and developmental delays/disabilities.
  • Familiarity with the IFSP process and early intervention best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse families.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in technology for documentation and virtual service delivery if applicable.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits (if required).
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work is typically conducted in home settings, childcare centers, or community environments.
  • May require sitting, standing, kneeling, or engaging in physical activities with young children.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $32.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
