We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Behavioral Specialist to add to our growing team at our Gold (SUTQ) rated childcare and preschool center(s) located in Stow, Canton, and Bedford Heights, OH.

The Early Childhood Behavior Specialist provides support to young children (ages 0-5) in early learning environments by implementing strategies to promote positive behaviors, social-emotional development, and academic readiness. The specialist collaborates with teachers, families, and support staff to create inclusive learning environments that support children with behavioral challenges.

This role requires traveling between multiple All Around Children centers in NE Ohio, to fill in as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Behavioral Support & Intervention :
  • Observe children in classrooms and assess their behavioral and social-emotional needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for children displaying challenging behaviors.
  • Utilize evidence-based strategies to promote self-regulation, social skills, and emotional development.
  • Support teachers and caregivers in managing classroom behaviors using positive behavior support (PBS) techniques.
  • Collaboration & Training :
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to provide behavioral guidance and intervention strategies.
  • Conduct training sessions for educators on behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation techniques.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists, mental health providers) to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Family Engagement & Advocacy :
  • Provide coaching and resources to parents on managing behaviors at home.
  • Facilitate family workshops on topics such as positive discipline, social-emotional learning, and early intervention.
  • Advocate for children's needs in Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) or Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) when applicable.
  • Data Collection & Reporting :
  • Maintain accurate records of behavioral observations, interventions, and progress.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Provide reports and recommendations to teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Skills & Competencies :
  • Strong understanding of child development and positive behavior support frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, parents, and professionals.
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible, and compassionate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and progress monitoring.
  • Bilingual skills (preferred but not required).

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma / GED.
  • Possession of a CDA, AA or higher degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is a plus, but not required for this position
  • At least one year of child care experience working in a licensed ODJFS child care program.
  • Experience working with infants and young children.
  • Current physical and ability to pass BCI / FBI background check.
  • Basic language, written, and computer skills necessary for communication and documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and support staff.
  • Reliable, compassionate, and able to create a warm, nurturing and responsive environment for children and families.
  • Must be dependable and maintain a good work record as to punctuality and daily attendance.
  • Applicants must possess current legal authorization to work in the United States.
