Lifeguard (Part-Time)
The Lifeguard will report to the Aquatics Director and will provide lifeguard coverage for pools in the North Chicagoland area according to American Red Cross standards for lifeguarding. This part-time, nonexempt position will work Fridays from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, with a few additional hours per week. The position pays $25/hour and does not offer benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily oversight of the pool area, following the policies and procedures outlined in the Aquatics Staff Manual and the American Red Cross to maintain a safe and healthy pool environment.
- Demonstrate and model the standards of a professional lifeguard, including enforcing pool rules, maintaining a positive attitude in interactions, and effectively recognizing and responding to all emergencies.
- Maintain order in both indoor and outdoor pool areas at all times.
- Accurately maintain chemical logs by recording chlorine and pH levels, water temperature, and usage statistics, and report issues to the Aquatics Director.
- Keep management informed of pool maintenance needs, including cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the pool and pool area.
- Provide excellent customer service in accordance with established policies.
- Be identifiable as a lifeguard by wearing the required uniform and remaining at your designated workstation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Aquatics Director.
REQUIREMENTS
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid/AED certification required.
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred.
