Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician or assistant with emergency experience to join our team. We are a privately owned emergency hospital that treats small animals as well as exotics. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while assisting veterinarians in various clinical tasks. This position requires a strong understanding of animal physiology and anatomy, as well as the ability to perform laboratory procedures and maintain a clean, safe environment for both patients and staff.
Duties
- Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each animal treated.
- Provide basic animal husbandry care, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health status.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Prepare animals and monitor them for surgery
- Catheter placement
- Calculate drug dosages
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures is highly desirable.
- Ability to effectively restrain animals safely during examinations or treatments.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
- A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to providing exceptional care.
- Experience with exotics a plus but not required
