Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to animals while supporting our veterinary staff in various tasks. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort of animals.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by the veterinarian.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including blood draws and urinalysis.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each animal treated.
- Provide client education on animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Assist in kennel duties, including cleaning and maintaining animal housing areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary team.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, animal husbandry, and general animal care practices.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and laboratory procedures is a plus.
- Strong skills in animal handling, with an emphasis on safety for both staff and animals.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- A passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing exceptional care.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician or experience in veterinary critical care is desirable but not mandatory.
