Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team in a part-time to full-time position. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the well-being of pets while fostering a positive experience for their owners.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Handle and restrain dogs and other animals as needed for examinations and treatments.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including monitoring vital signs and administering pre-operative medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Perform basic laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis.
- Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and post-operative instructions.
- Assist with the administration of medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Document patient information accurately in veterinary software systems.
- Support the veterinary team with any additional tasks as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred; additional training will be provided.
- Strong skills in dog handling and animal restraint techniques.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology is beneficial.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques and animal catheterization is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic laboratory procedures such as X-ray assistance or sample collection.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
- A genuine passion for animal care and welfare is essential.
