What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Assistant position at All Dental Group?
Assisting
- Serve the Doctor(s) beyond expectation.
- Understand the verbal, assumed, and foreshadowed needs and wants of the Doctor and patients to help improve the efficiency and productivity of the practice.
- Ensure “time integrity” for the Clinical Team, making sure the Doctor’s and patient’s time is never wasted.
- Accurately prepare operatories with the correct instruments prior to each scheduled treatment to mitigate downtime.
- Sterilize instruments to prepare each room for patient visits.
- Maintain all dental equipment including compressor, vacuum, water system, suction lines, light curing units, etc.
- Oversee patient while administering nitrous oxide.
- Assist Doctor during treatment and provide post-op instruction before and after treatment.
- Clean and sterilize operatory after each treatment is completed.
- Take and process x-rays, impressions. Assist in making and cementing crowns/bridges.
- Understand and believe in what constitutes a “Healthy Mouth,” and compare each patient’s mouth to the standard using the “Healthy Mouth Baseline” as a tool.
- Be knowledgeable and promote other dental services such as teeth whitening, Invisalign, night guards, toothbrushes, etc.
- Advise the front office when the Doctor is running more than ten minutes behind so that they may inform scheduled patients.
Recordkeeping
- Input all treatment/treatment plans in the management software program (charts) as necessary; document all sedations as required.
- Ensure patient records are complete and accurate.
- Monitor inventory of supplies, place orders and stock shelves as necessary. (Within agreed upon budget)
- Prepare lab slips for the Doctor and ensure that pickup and delivery dates are monitored and maintained.
- Advise the front office when patients require additional (or fewer) time units than normal for their upcoming treatment to aid in scheduling efficiency.
Other Duties
- Keep medical emergency kit updated and current.
- Always abide by OSHA regulations.
- Keep lab and sterilization areas clean and orderly.
- Assist in asking “A” patients for referrals.
- Assist in building a “Trust Factor” with all patients.
- Assist to uncover patients’ “Personal Motivators”.
- Cover other areas within the practice as needed and when needed.
- Come to daily huddle prepared (charts read) and ready to share unscheduled treatment needs of each patient so that treatment coordinator is proactively prepared to fit treatment in to the patient’s lifestyle.
Expectations
Help the practice meet daily production goals by educating patients on their treatment needs, the importance of their future appointments, etc.
