Position Purpose
A versatile position within a dynamic nonprofit that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief. The position is full-time and is responsible for managing and supporting volunteers while on program, building and coordinating a local network of day volunteers, helping to invite and coordinate incoming volunteers, and facilitating a positive, productive and impactful volunteer experience.

Essential Functions
- The situation in L.A. is dynamic and evolving rapidly. Our Volunteer Coordinator must be able to support with essential All Hands and Hearts volunteer coordination tasks, as well as supporting the team to plan and design the future of our work in L.A.. In addition to welcoming residential volunteers, our Volunteer Coordinator is likely to be required to assist with coordinating local day volunteers, and seeking opportunities to develop new volunteer opportunities.
- Work to build and manage a local network of volunteers in the Los Angeles area through networking and partnership building
- Facilitate volunteer opportunities by working with program team to identify opportunities and connect them to the local network including alumni and other available volunteers, ensuring all waivers and tracking are up to date
- Support the volunteer coordination team in selecting and inviting volunteers, including direct volunteer outreach calls to set expectations
- Engage corporate groups of volunteers and support them in having a meaningful, impactful program experience
- Coordinate the arrival and departure schedule of individual volunteers and groups, conduct pre-arrival phone calls, answer volunteer inquiries, and communicate expected volunteer numbers to the field team
- Welcome new volunteers ensuring they are settled, and have completed all required paperwork
- Facilitate orientation sessions for incoming volunteers to introduce them to the organization
- Update tracking systems daily, including updating volunteer arrivals, departures, breaks in Salesforce, donation tracking, and personal fundraising pages, as well as supporting the Program Director with financial and operational tracking
- Engage volunteers with the alumni network platform by posting program updates, responding to questions and promoting the benefits of becoming an Alumni Network member
- Collect feedback surveys from volunteers as they depart, and work with Volunteer Coordination Manager and program team to review feedback
- Support with base operations such as procurement of food, medical and base supplies and transportation when necessary
- Assist with local volunteer recruitment and recruitment platforms such as Workaway
- We have decided to relax the requirement for Covid-19 vaccination for on program staff. While we still strongly recommend Covid-19 vaccination, along with other standard and travel immunizations as recommended by the CDC and WHO, Covid-19 vacation will no longer be required

Position Requirements
- Education High school diploma or equivalent required
- Related Experience Previous experience working with All Hands and Hearts, or another disaster response organization, preferred.
- Special Competencies/Certifications Must have good written and oral communication skills. Must be confident working with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs and Google Sheets; and Microsoft Office. Confident in Salesforce. Needs to be well organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks. Strong leadership skills with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems. Able to manage a large workload and perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Language: Fluent in English, Spanish language an advantage
- Driving: Full driver's license, preferred (must be aged 21 to drive)

Compensation & Benefits
- Typical starting salary is $18.25 - 18.75 /hour, and up to $19.25 /hour for highly qualified candidates who have previous experience in this role.
