Summary

Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunctions, perform minor and major repairs on DOT trucks and Equpment.

JOB SUMMARY:

• Perform in all areas of general mechanical duties.
• Repair and preventative maintenance; examine vehicles to determine probable causes of vehicle problem and parts and work required to complete repairs.
• Truck engine maintenance; lube, oil, and filter
• Familiarity with spring and air suspension systems
• Familiarity with hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with air brake systems
• Performs engine performance and wiring diagnostics to isolate performance problem(s) and complete necessary repair(s)
• Position includes the ability to offer input on purchase and replacement of all equipment in the fleet.
• Ability to assist in or perform repairs on all equipment involved in the production of ready-mix concrete and Sand & Gravel trucks.
• General Welding skills preferred.
• Experienced on the following items: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, drive train components, high pressure pumps, air compressors, cooling systems, wiring, exhaust systems, differentials, chassis, suspension, A/C systems, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle malfunctions.
• Perform minor and major repairs on trucks.
• Conduct regular preventative maintenance on trucks including inspection and oil changes.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Performs job tasks correctly with efficiency to ensure profitability and operations.
• Maintains general housekeeping by keeping shop clean and free from oil, fluids, etc.
• Keeps all tools and fitting is good working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation CDL holder (preferred)
• ASE certification preferred not required.
• Experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks, equipment with reliable equipment.
• Repair and implement preventative maintenance.
• Examine vehicles to determine probable cause of vehicle problem.
• Knowledgeable of parts and work required to complete repairs.
• Must have a complete set of tools.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills- must be a team player.
• Must have knowledge and understanding of DOT regulations and Inspections.

Physical Requirements:

• Must stand and walk on level and uneven surfaces, twist, bend, push, pull, crouch, climb stairs, bend and crawl, grasp, drag, lift, and carry items weighting fifty pounds or less.
• May work above shoulder level with power and/or hand tools weighing fifteen pounds or less in confined spaces.
