United Engineers and Constructors is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervising Engineer to lead a dynamic team of Controls Engineers and Designers. The role involves providing continuous, on-site support for a nuclear plant project in the Detroit/Chicago/Toledo region.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervisory Oversight: Review and approve Engineering Change Packages, including:
- Equipment specifications for transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS/DC, communication systems, digital/process instrumentation, and control system components.
- Calculations for electrical studies (short circuit, voltage drop, coordination, and arc flash) using OTI-ETAP software.
- Engineering drawings include single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, raceway layouts, lighting and grounding plans, and cable schedules.
- Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance to engineers and designers within the Electrical/I&C discipline.
- Project Coordination: Oversee multiple projects, managing client, contractor, vendor, and team member communications.
- Budget & Schedule Management: Monitor and report on budget and schedule performance.
- Technical Contributions: Develop and implement electrical and I&C system designs while maintaining compliance with nuclear standards.
Requirements
- Education: BS in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Experience:
- 8 years in electrical and I&C systems design for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
- 5 years specializing in nuclear plant system design within North America.
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA, IAEA Codes, and NRC Regulatory Guides.
- Expertise in preparing engineering drawings and calculations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams).
- Licensure: Professional Engineering (PE) License in any U.S. state, with the ability to obtain additional licensure by comity.
- Other: U.S. citizenship and ability to secure unescorted access to U.S. nuclear plants (Fitness for Duty compliance).
