Church Administrator Job Description
All Saints’ Episcopal Church is seeking a Church Administrator. The position is full time, on site from 8:30 – 5:30 with competitive benefits for health insurance, retirement, paid holidays, and 2 weeks of PTO (paid time off). We ask that the candidate is or is willing to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19. While the candidate does not have to be an Episcopalian, we do expect the person to respect the tenets of our faith.
This position is key to the smooth operation of the Church office. While some tasks are consistent day-to-day, each day also presents different tasks and responsibilities which can run the gamut from Church-related events to building and grounds management, to keeping accurate Church records. This position also liaises with the child development center attached to the Church. The Church Administrator supports the pastor and other church staff members by making sure that supplies are ordered and the building is in good order. To be a successful church administrator, you should be able to handle multiple tasks, be flexible, efficient, detail-oriented, and professional. It requires adaptability, critical thinking skills, and patience as priorities can often shift unexpectedly.
Church Administrator Responsibilities:
- Managing daily operations and maintaining office supplies and records
- Recruiting office volunteers and overseeing their work and vacation schedules
- Scheduling church events
- Overseeing church facility maintenance and security operations
- Building and maintaining relationships with the congregation and community
Church Administrator Requirements:
- An associate's degree in business, office management, or related field
- 2 years' office or administrative experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office tools, along with understanding and working with basic office equipment
- Must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 30 pounds, bend and reach to store and retrieve items from high and low shelves, walk long distances throughout the building, and walk up and down stairs
- Capacity to problem solve, multi-task, and handle stressful situations calmly and with tact
- Commitment to guard confidential and sensitive information
