Job Title: Director of Security

Job Description

As the Director of Security at All Saints' Episcopal School, you will lead efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for the school community. Your leadership, security expertise, and commitment to maintaining a secure and welcoming campus will contribute to the well-being and peace of mind of students, staff, and visitors.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Safety and Security Planning
  • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive security strategy and protocols for the school.
  • Analyze security risks and threats and create strategies to address them effectively.
  • Keep abreast of security industry best practices and emerging threats.
  • Serve in a leadership role on the Crisis Management Team
  • Establish emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, including natural disasters and security incidents.
  • Maintain relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies
  • Collaborate with local authorities and first responders for coordinated responses.
  • Conduct drills and training sessions to ensure staff and students are well-prepared for emergencies.

  • Training and Supervision
  • Recruit, train, and lead team of security personnel, ensuring they are equipped to carry out their duties.
  • Oversee hiring and staffing of off-duty officers to supplement school security personnel
  • Develop schedules and ensure appropriate coverage for all shifts.
  • Facilitate compliance with state licensing including employee records audits.

  • Security Operations
  • Collaborate with school leadership, administrators, and staff to align security efforts with the school's goals and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and visitors about security policies and procedures.
  • Manage security technology systems, such as surveillance cameras, access control, and alarm systems.
  • Ensure these systems are maintained, updated, and fully operational.
  • Oversee the implementation of technology upgrades and improvements.
  • Must be familiar with or willing to learn “Master Keying Systems” and how they are set up to maintain access control in schools.
  • Maintain existing key system while planning for and implementing key systems for new campus buildings.
  • Enforce visitor and access control policies and procedures.
  • Monitor campus access points and check-in procedures.
  • Collaborate with the school administration to manage visitor lists and credentials. Will be responsible for traffic and parking on campus. This includes maintaining safety traffic signs as well as campus crosswalks during arrival, departure, and special events.
  • Maintain all AED’s insuring that all consumables are kept up to date and reporting standards are met.

  • Incident Management
  • Respond to security incidents, investigate security breaches, and report findings.
  • Implement corrective actions and security measures to prevent future incidents.
  • Maintain accurate incident records and reports.
  • Control expenditures, evaluate cost-effective security solutions, and manage financial resources responsibly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in security management, criminal justice, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Relevant security certifications, such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP), are an advantage.
  • Should be at least level 3 certified with level 4 preferred. Or willing to obtain certifications after hire.
  • Significant experience in security management, with a strong track record of overseeing security operations.
  • Willing to submit to drug and psyche screening as a condition of employment.
  • Familiarity with security technology systems, emergency management, and access control.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in emergency preparedness and response procedures.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal security regulations.
  • Proficiency in using security technology and software systems.
  • Familiarity with surveillance cameras, alarm systems, and access control technology.

Physical Ability Requirements:

  • Maintain composure and effective communication in fast-paced and stressful environments.
  • Prepared to swiftly respond to emergencies
  • React appropriately to situations without being hindered by low endurance or minimal strength.
  • Ability to stand for long time-periods while sometimes working in inclement weather.
  • Capable of sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping, climbing stairs, with the ability to run short distances.
  • Ability to lift or move items ±50 pounds
  • Sharp observation skills to detect and assess potential issues.
  • Operate a motor vehicle
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to operate communication devices and security equipment
  • Must pass the School’s screening policies including drug screens, criminal background check, and psyche evaluation; must complete School safeguarding training once hired
