JOB DESCRIPTION: FIRE SUPPRESSION TECH

Summary:

The Fire Suppression Tech is responsible for servicing and inspecting kitchen hood systems, fire extinguishers and other non-water based suppression systems.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

The following are the duties and responsibilities, as well as qualifications and requirements for the Fire Suppression Tech.

 Knowledgeable in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA-17, 17A & 96) fire code standard.

 Knowledgeable of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA-10) fire code standard.

 Inspect, service and perform maintenance on portable fire extinguishers to meet the NFPA-10 standard.

 Extensive knowledge of all pre-engineered systems.

 Assure the customer’s facility meets also meets NFPA-10 / 17 / 17A & 96 standard.

 Perform site survey, identify code issues, and educate customers in reference to the above standards.

 Meet or exceed company standards concerning the cleanliness of vehicle and tools.

 Monitor vehicle for service needs and repairs.

 Knowledgeable of and meet Department of Transportation (DOT) vehicle requirements.

 Responsible for understanding and abiding the employee’s manual.

 Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety requirements while on customer’s property.

 Responsible for understanding and complying with the safety requirements while on company property and in company vehicles.

 Meet or exceed company uniform and grooming standards.

 Perform other related duties as assigned and as necessary depending on the situation and location.

Qualifications & Requirements

 Two years experience in suppression service work or ability to be trained.  Have or ability to get proper certification for your job requirements.

 Strong customer skills, Communicates well with others.

 Ability to meet and interact well with employees, management and customers,

 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.

 Must be able to read and communicate in the English language.

 Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

 Needs to be able to work independently.

 Must be able to work with small tools.

 Ascend and descend a ladder or stairs.

 Must be able to lift and transport up to 80 pounds unassisted.

 Flexibility to adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, hectic work environment.

 Must pass a driver’s license check as well as a drug test.

 Must have High School diploma or GED.

 Must be able to pass a national certified test in reference to the job hired for.

Physical requirements & job environment

All candidates for this position should be reasonably physically fit and capable of picking a 80 pound tool, piece of equipment, piece of material or fire extinguishers and move it (or lift it above your head) either to a vehicle, job site, customer’s location, our shop, etc.
