Position Overview:
The Construction Dispatcher will be the primary interface between our All States Construction crews and Driver resources. The Construction Dispatcher will manage our Lowbed fleet and ensure the Reclaimer crews have equipment delivered timely to execute the scheduled jobs. This position will also be responsible for managing our Calcium distribution business by monitoring satellite tank inventory levels and optimizing truck scheduling to maximize profitability while meeting customer expectations. This position requires professional communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. An effective Construction Dispatcher must be diligent in documentation and transfer of information to achieve flawless quality assurance. The dispatcher must effectively and efficiently manage changing and evolving variables including, but not limited to, weather, customer needs, available trucks, and available product while maintaining strict DOT compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interface with Construction Manager to understand schedule and required equipment moves
- Responsible for overseeing DOT drivers.
- Apply for and receive and needed single trip specialty permits
- Interface with Customers and Sales Reps to receive daily Calcium Chloride orders
- Manage and schedule pugmill operation
- Dispatch and provide clear direction for all Company trucking resources
- Leverage 3rd party haulers as necessary and build strong working relationships
- Contribute to flawless product quality performance via extreme diligence
- Clearly communicate pinch points or opportunities
- Monitor DOT/FMCSA compliance; ensure strict adherence to all driver and vehicle requirements
- Must be able to take phone calls off hours.
- Understand the busy season is May through October and the workload will reflect that.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires the ability to adapt to change fluidly.
- Cross train and provide back fill to other dispatchers when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- 2 years of professional experience in construction, truck dispatch, equipment, and material management
- Computer literacy required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical.
Work Conditions
Office setting with controlled temperature and minimal noise. Incumbent must be able to sit for extended periods of time and tolerate working at a computer for most of their work duties.
