A day in the life of a Drywall Taper can look like:
Tapes joints between plasterboard or other wallboards to prepare wall surface for painting or papering by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Cuts out and per-fills damaged areas on finished walls with hot mud
- Mixes joint compound and tapes over flats, buts and angles by hand or with mechanical applicator
- Spots crews and spreads and smooths compound material over taped flats butts, and angles surfaces
- Sands rough spots after compound has dried
- Applies flush coats, primer or texture and touches up any nicks, dings, scuffs or pin holes
- Cleans up all mechanical tools and spills on a daily basis to keep in proper working condition
- Stocks materials as required
- Knowledge of industrial standards
