A Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides essential assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them live more independently and achieve their personal goals. Their responsibilities typically include:
- Personal Care: Assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Skill Development: Supporting individuals in learning life skills, such as cooking, budgeting, and social interactions.
- Community Integration: Facilitating access to community resources and activities, helping individuals engage socially and participate in events.
- Behavioral Support: Implementing behavioral plans and strategies to promote positive behaviors and address challenges.
- Health Monitoring: Observing and reporting health changes and coordinating with healthcare providers.
- Documentation: Keeping accurate records of individuals’ progress, incidents, and any relevant information.
