A Level 3 Set-Up Operator in the aerospace and defense industry, particularly in Southern California, is responsible for setting up and operating advanced CNC machines, including mill-turn centers and CNC lathes, to produce precision components. This role requires a deep understanding of machining processes, SolidWorks programming, and adherence to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Machine Setup and Operation : Configure and operate CNC mill-turn centers and lathes to perform complex machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, threading, and milling. Ensure machines are set up correctly to meet production requirements.
- Programming : Utilize SolidWorks and other CAD / CAM software to develop and modify CNC programs, ensuring they align with design specifications and quality standards.
- Quality Control : Conduct in-process inspections using precision measurement tools to verify that machined parts meet stringent aerospace and defense tolerances. Implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain quality.
- Maintenance : Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate records of machining processes, inspections, and maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Collaboration : Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to optimize machining processes and resolve any production challenges.
