GENERAL DESCRIPTION / JOB PURPOSE
The Sizer Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating the sizer systems in good repair and at peak efficiency. The Sizer Technician is also responsible for maintaining the electronic control and vision systems on the apple sizers in the Commit to Pack (CTP) and Pre-sized Packaging Lines (PPL). The sizer systems exist to transport and categorize the fruit according to certain characteristics such as weight, shape, color, and defects. Working closely with the Line supervisors, QC Leads, and Production completion allows the sizer technician too quickly and smoothly adjust the systems to meet the needs of the production department.
The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively in English both written and verbally (Bilingual in Spanish is preferred). This position is a full time, hourly position and will primarily work in a warehouse environment in a noisy environment and occasionally exposed to cold storage and outdoor environments which can be cold or hot, and loud. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to complete essential job junctions; this may include overtime, weekends and some holidays.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Calibrate, clean and maintain electronic control, vision and weight systems on apple sizers.
- Learn and understand Production’s needs for operating the sizer at peak efficiency.
- Learn and understand the grade standards for each variety that is packed at Allan Brothers Fruit.
- Create, document and archive color maps for each variety packed on each apple sizer.
- Update or modify color maps on apple sizers to support Production’s effort to maximize grade standards.
- Troubleshoot operational problems and either solve them or request additional help.
- Creation and management of internal defect maps for the Taste Tech cameras.
- Operation of the Taste Tech Cameras to support production.
- Operate the cherry sizers.
- Perform required daily maintenance on apple and cherry sizers.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for repairs and assist with parts inventory and ordering.
EDUCATION / CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Able to communicate in English and Spanish verbally and in writing.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
- Organizational skills (documentation, file names and folder structures, meeting schedules/deadlines).
- Identify areas for improving production through implementing or adapting new technology.
WAGE
DOE: Starting Wage $19.52
