Allan Hancock College is accepting applications for temporary and on-call custodian’s evenings and late-night shifts for the Santa Maria or Lompoc Valley campuses supporting the Facilities Department.
The successful candidate must pass a Department of Justice clearance before the start date.
The incumbent will: clean classrooms, offices, halls, and other rooms; arrange furniture; sweep, scrub, mop, strip, wax, and polish floors; dust floors and ceilings; apply sealer to cement floors; vacuum, shampoo, and steam clean rugs and carpets; vacuum drapes; clean and properly maintain restrooms; empty and clean trash and garbage cans; clean chalkboards and chalk trays; dust and wash furniture, bookshelves, woodwork, fixtures, counters, and equipment; polish metal works, woodwork, and furniture; wash walls and windows; clean glass and mirrors; sweep concrete surfaces/walkways adjacent to school buildings; empty pencil sharpeners; clean lights and light fixtures; wash outside of buildings; participate in thorough cleaning of college plant and facilities during recess/vacation periods; maintain supplies; make minor repairs; move furniture and equipment; secure buildings; report safety hazards; operate a district vehicle; train and supervise student help; and perform other related duties as assigned.Knowledge of basic cleaning methods and basic safe work practices related to custodial work.
