Controller

Overview:

Allbritten The Barefoot Plumber, a trusted name in home services for over 90 years, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to lead our financial operations. The Controller will oversee all accounting functions, ensure financial accuracy, and support strategic decision-making by providing insightful financial analysis and reporting. This role is ideal for a proactive financial leader who thrives in a fast-paced, service-driven environment and is passionate about driving operational excellence through strong fiscal management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management & Oversight:
• • Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Budgeting & Forecasting:
• • Lead the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Monitor and analyze budget variances and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Work closely with department managers to align financial performance with operational goals.

• Cash Flow & Financial Planning:
  • Monitor daily cash flow and manage banking relationships.
  • Forecast short- and long-term cash requirements and manage capital needs.
  • Oversee credit and collections policies and procedures.
• Strategic Financial Analysis:
• • Provide leadership with financial insights to support strategic planning and business growth.
  • Analyze job costing, profitability, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Develop financial models and dashboards for ongoing performance tracking.
• Compliance & Risk Management:
• • Oversee internal audits and ensure proper internal controls are in place.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements and other regulatory filings.
• Team Leadership:
• • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and accountable finance team culture.
  • Implement tools and technologies to improve financial operations and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience: 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or senior financial leadership role (home services or construction industry experience highly preferred).
• Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job costing, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (ServiceTitan or QuickBooks experience is a plus).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
