What are the responsibilities and job description for the Addictions Counselor position at Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse?
Will work in a substance use disorder outpatient clinic. Responsibilities would include evaluating and treating patients as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To interview the patient for assessment and diagnostic purposes relating to his/her alcohol related problems and behavior.
2. To be responsible for assigned patient’s documentation, (i.e.) interview notes, release of information forms, progress notes, discharge summaries.
3. To facilitate patient admission to appropriate level of care on the basis of
assessment and diagnostic results.
4. To prepare a specific treatment plan for and with each assigned patient and explain the need for their involvement in treatment.
5. To interview the spouse and/or other collateral of each assigned patient and explain the need for their involvement in the evaluation and treatment process.
6. To provide individual and group counseling for the patient, and refer patient to appropriate groups within the agency, as well as to outside self-help groups as needed.
7. To offer referral to the Child and Family Therapist for patient spouse and/or family.
8. To attend case conference, staff; and in-service meetings as scheduled.
9. To represent ACASA’s Outpatient Clinic at professional and community meetings, as assigned.
10. To file a monthly counselor’s activity report to the Clinic Director.
11. To maintain working relationships with other services in order to facilitate referral and linkages as well as advocate for same.
12. To do all in accordance with existing law and regulation.
SUPERVISION: Receives supervision from the Clinic Director or the Clinic Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, or closely related field. CASAC preferred.
Or
2. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology or Nursing, or closely related field, we will employ you and pay for you to obtain your CASAC (Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Certification)

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
