Residential Counselor

• If you have a Bachelors in Human Services and want to become an Addiction Counselor, you could be hired full-time and the agency will pay for your training to become a Credentialed Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Counselor certification

General:

• The staff of Trapping Brook House are expected to be role models for the residents on their road to recovery.
• All staff members must be physically able to complete all job-related activities as required.
• All employees must be able to work varied shifts as required to fit the needs of the house.

All employees must always maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward residents and staff.

• All employees will be required to know and understand the mission of this agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for all client affairs of the Community Residence.

• Meets with clients weekly for individual counseling sessions.
• Provide individual, family and group therapy. Complete mental status exams.
• Consults with the Director of Residential Operations regarding any administrative regulations.
• Maintains clinical and business files as required.
• Consults with the House Manager / Director regarding any clinical or residential issues.
• Maintains connection between other public, private, and professional agencies.
• Responsible for monitoring all clients’ behaviors and taking appropriate measures in accordance with policies of ACASA’s Trapping Brook House.
• Prepare, present, and / or provide any written reports on clients to the House Manager / Director, as requested and / or needed.
• Responsible for maintaining the residential program in compliance with OASAS and any other agency regulations.
• Guiding client in all aspects of recovery.
• Serve as a team member and work with all staff side-by-side in shared efforts of supporting our clients.
• Participate in regular supervision with the Director or Residential Operations or QHP.
• Other duties as assigned by Director of Residential Operations.

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s license
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work with adult male recovering addicted male.
• Able to work as multi-disciplinary team member.
• Experience in the counseling field with addiction and recovery.
• The physical ability to complete the job responsibilities. Reasonable accommodations can be made.

Education:

CASAC or Qualified Health Care Professional preferred will consider a Bachelors in Behavioral Health.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
