What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Manager position at Allegany County HRDC?
GENERAL SCOPE:
Under the supervision of the AAA director and the OAA Program Manager in concert with HRDC Policies, procedures, and program guidelines, the incumbent shall plan and schedule staff duties as well as assist the OAA Program Manager with quarterly menu rotations that follow all USDA, CACFP and MDoA guidelines. Supervises the nutrition functions of both commercial kitchens by supervising the work of the kitchen staff, ensuring efficient and healthy preparation of meals (congregate, home delivered, after school and adult medical day services); assuming responsibility for daily maintenance, care, and use of kitchen equipment, ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen; assuming responsibility for the efficient ordering of food and supplies; completing daily reports and records as indicated; effectively manages the kitchens by creating a positive and supportive environment for both staff and customers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· An Associates degree in Hospitality Management and two (2) years paralleling the major duties of the position Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or In lieu of an Associates Degree, four (4) years progressive experience within a commercial kitchen.
· Preference is given to applicants with a Dietary Manager Certification or Food Service Letter of Recognition.
· Must have a working knowledge of the food industry.
· Must take HIPAA training.
· Ability to develop computer skills within Agency’s designated time frame.
· Exercise independent judgment.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks in a pressured and changing environment.
· Possess good organizational and time management skills.
· Have ServSafe or be able to pass ServSafe within the agency’s designated time frame.
· Possess the ability and temperament to effectively work with individuals and groups from all sections of the community.
· Exhibits good oral and written communication skills.
· Must have the flexibility and access to transportation to travel independently in all types of weather.
· Ability to read and interpret regulations for a successful program. Keeps current on USDA Recommended Daily Allowance guidelines, Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines, and Dietary Guidelines on Nutrition for Older Adults.
· Must be able to pass CPR and First Aid within agency designated time frame.
·Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check and drug screen within the timeframe established by the program.
· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
· At least 21 years of age.
This is a non-union, Supervisory, Non-Exempt position. Typically, Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Average work week includes time spent between all center kitchens. Out-of-town travel may be required per program needs and operations. Frequently lifts, moves, and transports program supplies, vendor supply food orders, boxes, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
