Job Summary: Tutor
Under general supervision, the English Language Learner Tutor provides instructional support to students acquiring English as a second language. The tutor works closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions, reinforce classroom instruction, and support the linguistic, academic, and socio-cultural development of ELL students. The role includes one-on-one and small-group instruction, progress monitoring, and collaboration with educators and families to enhance student success.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides individual and small-group tutoring to English Language Learners to reinforce language acquisition and academic content.
Assists teachers in implementing and evaluating supplemental language instruction.
Supports students in developing English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Monitors student progress and communicates with teachers regarding academic and language development.
Encourages independence in English language use and supports cultural adaptation.
Helps maintain a positive and structured learning environment to promote student engagement.
Assists in preparing instructional materials and adapting lessons to meet the needs of ELL students.
Facilitates and encourages parental involvement to support student learning and achievement.
Assists language minority families in locating community resources to enhance student success.
Documents instructional services provided to ELL students and maintains accurate records.
Communicates with school personnel regarding cultural and language-related student needs.
Assists in organizing and implementing events and activities to promote parent engagement and student success.
Participates in professional development and training related to language acquisition and instructional strategies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
