ROLE TITLE : Career Coach

POSITION REPORTS TO : Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Summary of Position

Provide Allegheny students and alumni with career coaching support, techniques and resources to help them reach levels of professional and personal success. Proactively connect students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other constituents within the career ecosystem. Work to improve the student experience while strengthening College networks. Incorporate the use of social media and other mediums to generate awareness and increased engagement.

What you will do in this role :

As the Career Coach, you will :

  • Provide career coaching, advising, career and self-development exercises, and search consultations for students and alumni through one-on-one sessions, workshops, classroom presentations and outreach to various student groups. Work independently and in partnership with faculty and staff.
  • Provide daily operational support to the department : process routine correspondence and incoming / outgoing mail, monitor and maintain the budget and purchasing reconciliations; maintain confidential office files; support the drafting and delivery of reports, memos and other communications. Manage department schedules as needed. Prepare minutes, reports and supporting materials as needed.
  • Maintain a centralized structure of tracking campus-wide internship funds, including the sharing of information regarding financial assistance to students across academic affiliations and career pathways. Work with CCPD, Business Office, and IA Stewardship to manage fund balances and associated operations.
  • Operating at a beginner level of career center competency, work with departmental and divisional teammates to develop and fulfill goals that promote inclusiveness, effectiveness, efficiencies, and efforts to enhance a career ecosystem at the College. Support recruiting, admissions, and signature events at the College.
  • Serve as a campus to connection to a variety of stakeholders, including official committees, student affinity groups, and personnel in advancement, student life, and student success.
  • Some knowledge of National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) standards for professional ethical practice in career services and recruiting; knowledge of liberal arts institutions; some understanding of how to leverage technology for operational efficiency, scale and personalization; demonstrated working understanding of and commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Assist students in developing personalized career plans and setting realistic goals.
  • Depending on the location of the candidate, helping with events and information sessions. For example, registration for events.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 years of relevant experience in higher education and career service support.
  • Preferred Associates or Bachelors Degree, but will consider years experience in lieu of Bachelors or Masters degree.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google products, Social Media
  • Preferred experience in Career Services
  • Track record of achieving exceptional results.

    YOUR COMPENSATION

    New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

    The non-exempt positions expected minimum salary range is : $18.74 an hour.
