Responsibilities -



  • Collect payments from OPTIONS consumers receiving vital services.
  • Assist in managing the Cost Share program workflow.
  • Analyze collection reports to track payments and trends.
  • Provide customer service support to clients and stakeholders.

Older Adult Support Bureau - As an intern with the Area Agency on Aging’s Older Adult Support Bureau, you will contribute to the Cost Share program by assisting in the collection of payments from OPTIONS consumers, directly supporting in-home services for older adults.



Responsibilities -



  • Collect payments from OPTIONS consumers receiving vital services.
  • Assist in managing the Cost Share program workflow.
  • Analyze collection reports to track payments and trends.
  • Provide customer service support to clients and stakeholders.



Skills -



  • Experience in customer service and communication.
  • Basic accounting and financial management skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.



Older Adult Services Bureau - The Senior Companion Program in Allegheny County, funded by AmeriCorps and managed by the Department of Human Services/Area Agency on Aging, provides assistance and companionship to older adults with daily living tasks.



Responsibilities -



  • Conduct phone calls with volunteer stations, companions, and consumers, documenting conversations in database systems.
  • Compile data and generate reports on program activities.
  • Engage in community outreach, potentially working outside of the office.



Skills -



  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in database management and documentation.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data.
  • Initiative and willingness to work in community settings.



Information & Assistance Unit - The SeniorLine service serves as a vital resource for older adults, connecting them with essential information and services through a dedicated team of care managers. Interns play a crucial role in supporting this initiative by engaging in various responsibilities and skill development.



Responsibilities -



  • Conduct selected callbacks and referrals to assist callers.
  • Participate in professional training sessions to learn about different units within the Area Agency on Aging.
  • Attend outreach events to promote available services to the public.
  • Manage and distribute promotional materials to raise awareness of SeniorLine resources.
  • Investigate underutilized resources and update agency publications accordingly.
  • Assist in mailing informational materials to SeniorLine callers.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned during the internship.

  • Research and organizational skills for managing information.
  • Proficiency in taking initiative and completing tasks independently.
