Position Summary
This is administrative, management and professional work in planning, directing and coordinating public health activities in the field of public health.
An employee in this class may serve as an assistant to a higher-level public health administrator or may have the responsibility for administering a generalized program of public health services. Work may involve assisting in administering an assigned aspect of a generalized program of public health field services or performing duties of equivalent difficulty and responsibility in an assigned phase of public health services on a county-wide basis. Duties delegated to an employee in this class are designed to widen the scope of his experience and preparing for broader administrative responsibility in the field of public health. Supervision may be exercised over adjunctive professional, technical and clerical personnel. Work is performed under the immediate direction of a higher-level public health administrator and reviewed for conformance to departmental policies and procedures and for satisfactorily progressive achievement through conferences, reports and observations.

- Assist a high level public health administrator in the administration of a public health program on a county-wide basis or in the administration of a generalized program of public health services.
- Provides administrative/management services to departmental personnel, outside individuals, professional and lay groups, varied local health groups and others.
- Performs duties of an administrative/management nature as assigned, such as the planning of program and budget requirements; the collection, analysis, reporting and interpretation of public health program statistics; the direction of adjunctive professional, technical, clerical staff; the preparation and maintenance of pertinent records and reports.
- Performs related work as required.
