Job Overview
The Office of Marketing and Special Events raises public awareness of County services, projects, events, activities and initiatives through proactive marketing, advertising, and social media efforts, as well as produces a wide array of high-quality cultural, artistic and special events to enhance the quality of life in Allegheny County. Under the direction and supervision of the Special Events Manager, the Special Events Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the management of the County’s special events and programs. Evening and weekend hours and travel to various sites within Allegheny County are required.
Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and executes all phases and logistics of County-sponsored special events including, but not limited to, SnowFest, Hay Day, Movie Nights, holiday-themed events, County Car Cruises and the annual Allegheny County Summer Concert Series.
- Oversees layout of event grounds, creates detailed event maps, and ensures smooth execution of events by communicating with internal staff, including interns, labor crews, and facilities management.
- Communicates and interacts extensively with the public via phone, email, and in-person at events.
- Seeks out and secures vendors, licensing, and necessary bookings for events.
- Oversees inventory and equipment used for events and promotions.
- Secures vendors, issues letter agreements, and handles post-event evaluations and follow-up.
- Purchases food and supplies, and places orders for catering services as needed.
- Recruits and certifies food trucks and other vendors to enhance the quality and experience of concerts and other events.
- Assists with marketing and promotions of events.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Evening and weekend hours are required.
A current, valid PA Driver’s License is required. Travel to various sites within Allegheny County will be required.
Act 33/34 Clearances are required prior to appointment.
It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $36,198.00 - $46,477.00 per year
