Position Overview: Children, Youth, and Families (CYF) Caseworker 2
Description: CYF Caseworkers play a critical role in protecting and supporting abused and neglected children and their families. Depending on their assignment, Caseworkers may also provide counseling services to children, families, foster parents, and adoptive parents. In this role, you will collaborate with families to establish and achieve goals focused on safety and self-sufficiency through Conferencing and Teaming processes. Responsibilities also include crisis intervention, when necessary, and presenting case facts and testimony in Children’s Court.
New Caseworkers serve a six-month probationary period under the guidance of a Casework Supervisor. During this time, they complete a comprehensive ten-week curriculum consisting of both classroom instruction and fieldwork. From the initial referral to the resolution of agency involvement, Caseworkers work closely with families to ensure their needs are met.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
- Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
- A bachelor’s degree in social welfare; or
- A bachelor’s degree that includes at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences, along with one year of professional social casework experience in a public; or private social service agency; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences.
Additional Notes:
Applicants who are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits will be considered eligible.
