GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Minister to hospital patients and their families regarding religious / spiritual beliefs. Work with members of the Pastoral Care Team to carry out the responsibilities of the Team. Provide spiritual and emotional support for the patients, families and system associates within the context of illness, suffering, loss and death.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Counsels and ministers to patients and families in crisis situations, and provides grief support as needed. Must be available on an on-call basis as scheduled on the weekend. (65%)
- Counsels and ministers to hospital patients. (25%)
- Maintains working relationships with community clergy. (5%)
- Conducts and coordinates formal/informal religious services for patient, families and staff. (5%)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) level in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Pastoral Care, Religious Study or related degree. Education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 1 year recognized ministry experience.
Preferred
- Board Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains.
- Hospital ministry experience.
