GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Core Support is responsible for assembling surgical case carts with proper surgical instrumentation and other necessary surgical supply items. Serves as a liaison between Central Sterile and the Operating Room staff to assure smooth, uninterrupted daily materials support. Coordinates, stock, pulls from inventories, and prepares necessary supplies and instruments for emergent and routine surgical case while ensuring the integrity of packaging, wraps, and containers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Case Cart Picking of items living in the Sterile Cores (50%)
- Restocking Sterile Cores (25%)
- Liaison between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing (10%)
- Maintain scanning system for instrumentation and inventory (10%)
- Processes requests for patient care equipment received via computerized system and by telephone (5%)
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- CPR – American Heart Association
Preferred
- CRCST eligible or CRCST preferred
- Sterile processing or six months experience in a hospital setting preferred
- Enrollment in a surgical tech/sterile processing program preferred
SKILLS:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Be able to work in a fast paced environment and take appropriate actions
- Be able to multi-task
- Provide exceptional customer service
