About the Role:
As a Long-Term Substitute Speech Language Pathologist for our Special Education department, you will play a crucial role in providing essential services to students with speech and language impairments. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, organize, and deliver instructional and therapeutic services that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screens and evaluates students to determine their eligibility for speech-language services and identify the most suitable service delivery models.
- Participates in Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and develop comprehensive evaluation reports, re-evaluation reports, and IEPs within required timelines.
- Determines and implements individual, group, classroom, or consultation therapeutic services to students with speech and language disorders, focusing on academic support and success.
- Develops and delivers lesson plans using best practices, curriculum materials, and teaching methods that cater to the unique needs of each student.
- Provides therapy services in various areas, including articulation, phonology, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice disorders, pragmatics, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and dysphagia.
- Maintains accurate records of student progress and program statistics, preparing regular reports and other mandated paperwork as needed.
- Collaborates with colleagues, support staff, and administrators to ensure seamless communication and effective implementation of programs and services.
Requirements:
- Valid Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education, Speech and Language Impaired K-12
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or Clinical Fellowship Year option in Speech Pathology (preferred)
- Experience working with school-age populations (desired)
