Construction Estimator (Asphalt, Paving, Stone)

Location: Durham, NC

Salary: $110,000

We're looking for a Construction Estimator with a background in heavy civil construction and stone/paving projects to join our growing but family orientated organization in Durham, North Carolina. You would be joining a team of 10 working on a range of Asphalt projects ranging from $50,000-£5M. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-impact infrastructure work across the region and play a key role in our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret project drawings, specs, and bid documents for paving and site development projects.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure bids are accurate and competitive.
• Source and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for optimal pricing and quality.
• Conduct risk assessments and highlight cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to understand site-specific challenges.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local construction market trends, pricing, and regulations.

Requirements:

• 5 years of experience estimating civil construction projects, specifically in paving, roadwork, or sitework
• Strong understanding of paving processes, materials, and equipment
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeayBid, Bluebeam, or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and time management skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
