Job Summary
The Special Needs Care Giver plays a crucial role in supporting an individual with special needs. This position involves working closely with the 16 year old male client and his parents in the family home. The caregiver will focus on patient observation, provide guidance, redirection and companionship. The client attends high school and returns home at 4pm. This is typically the start of the shift while school is in session.
Duties
- Meet family at the home right after school.
- Engage with the client and follow the routine set by the family.
- Help with snack and dinner.
- Bathing and dressing for bed.
Requirements
- Must be available Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8pm
- Must be available on Saturday as well. Times vary.
- Experience in special needs care including Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
- Knowledge of care plans and patient observation techniques is essential.
- Previous experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
- Strong communication skills.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
