We have an immediate need for Cook Operators for our client located in Lancaster, PA. Permanent opportunities are available on all 3 shifts! The Cook Operator reports to the production supervisor and assures operational effectiveness by cooking and preparing our products according to specified recipes and production standards. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to perform well on any of the assigned tasks. The candidate will be a team-focused individual who is passionate and driven to deliver best in class. This role is responsible for operating large industrial kettles, monitoring cooking times and temperatures, and ensuring food safety and quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
Kettle Operation :
o Set up, operate, and monitor large industrial kettles used to cook various food products.
o Follow specific recipes and cooking instructions, ensuring proper ingredient proportions and cooking
times.
o Adjust kettle settings such as temperature, steam, and mixing speeds to achieve optimal cooking
conditions.
Cooking Operation :
o Measure and weigh ingredients according to the recipe specifications.
o Add ingredients to the kettle at the appropriate times, following sequence and timing guidelines.
o Stir, mix, and monitor the cooking process to ensure even cooking and proper texture.
o Regularly check cooking temperatures, times, and ingredient consistency to ensure food quality
standards are met.
o Perform taste tests and visual inspections during and after cooking to confirm flavor, appearance, and
texture.
o Identify any issues with the product (e.g., undercooking, overcooking, or contamination) and take
corrective action as necessary.
Food Safety and Compliance :
o Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including the kettles and surrounding equipment.
o Adhere to all food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMPs, and other company protocols.
o Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures to prevent accidents
and contamination.
o Document cooking times, temperatures, and any deviations from standard operating procedures.
Equipment Maintenance :
o Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of kettles and associated equipment after each production cycle.
o Inspect and troubleshoot equipment for malfunctions, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
o Assist with preventive maintenance tasks as needed to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
o Work closely with the production team to coordinate cooking schedules and ensure efficient production
flow.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
2 years’ experience in food cooking manufacturing.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and cooking processes.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot cooking equipment, including large industrial kettles.
Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and adherence to recipes.
Good time management and multitasking abilities to manage multiple batches simultaneously.
Basic math skills for measuring and adjusting ingredient amounts.
Food handling certification or HACCP certification
Ability to work exposure to heat, steam, and humid conditions.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their safe use.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment effectively.
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy ingredients, and perform repetitive tasks.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Must be a team player, willing to work in a growing, demanding and fast-paced environment.
Must be a self-starter and willing to work flexible hours.
Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of the job.
Familiarity with codes, regulations, SQF, HAACP, OHSAS and other relevant standards.
Pay range : $23.00-$26.50 / hour
