Position Title: District Chief of Operations
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY: The responsibilities of the District Chief of Operations is to supervise and coordinate with subordinate supervisors to ensure that all procedures and protocols are being followed. Specific duties will vary as needs arise.
The District Chief of Operations must have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to organize team members and implement direction per the District Manager. A wide degree of experience, which may be attained by work experience in various roles, is helpful in aiding the District Chief in the specific complexities of managing the assigned areas of operation. Excellent arbitration and organizational skills are also necessary for satisfactory performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES: (Responsibilities include, but not limited to)
- Manage all day to day activities. Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and promoting of potential applicants to includes completion of new hire paperwork for Human Resources, unit monitoring and system status monitoring.
- Serve as an instructor or evaluator as necessary.
- Oversees supervisors responsible for planning of work assignments, scheduling and equipment allocation.
- Responsible for managing employee review and evaluation process in the assigned scope of operations.
- Responsible for supervising and mentoring Shift Commanders and/or District Supervisors and Station Coordinators.
- Responsible for the implementation of patient safety behavioral and procedural expectations.
- Consult with Customer Relations staff on potential opportunities to prepare for call volume changes.
- Handle initial and follow-up complaint resolutions with customers, hospitals and the community.
- Monitor documentation logs (PCS, Signature and Correction).
- Resolve work problems and acts as arbitrator in service problem resolution.
- Manage discipline and corrective action for employees.
- Ensures timely reporting of patient safety events and any "near misses".
- Assist in all aspects of equipment and vehicle maintenance (oil changes, tires and episodic issues).
- Participate in continuous quality review and improvement of the operations.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong Interpersonal/Organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Works around standard office conditions, repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, and use of
- manual dexterity. Also participates in field operation as needed and may be required to
- Lift, carry, balance and push up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
- Demonstrate flexibility and physical coordination by bending from the waist and touching toes, squat with legs parallel to the ground, and kneeling with both knees firmly on the ground.
- Repetitive lifting, squatting, stooping and kneeling.
- Climb 20 sets of stairs without rest within 60 seconds.
- Demonstrate fine manual dexterity by performing job-related clinical skills (starting IV's, intubating, etc.).
- Have correctable vision adequate to read street signs, see in low light and read the small print.
- Use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations.
- Maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity.
- Have good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Function under situations of extreme fatigue due to little or no rest, extreme temperatures, and inclement weather conditions.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- DSHS Paramedic certification with a minimum of 2 years EMS supervisory experience.
- Posses and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable with our carrier.
