Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nursing Unit Manager to lead and manage the nursing team at Allegiant of Mesa, a dedicated long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will be a skilled leader with a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing high-quality care to our residents. This position requires the ability to manage both staff and resources effectively while ensuring that all residents receive the best care possible in a safe, supportive, and dignified environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Staff Management :
Supervise and mentor a team of registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and other healthcare staff.
Provide guidance, support, and performance evaluations to nursing staff to ensure high standards of care.
Develop and implement staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
Promote a positive, collaborative team environment that supports professional growth and development.
Resident Care & Clinical Oversight :
Oversee the clinical care of residents, ensuring that care plans are developed, followed, and updated regularly in accordance with residents' needs.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and facility policies related to care, infection control, medication management, and documentation.
Monitor and address resident care concerns and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to resolve issues.
Quality Assurance & Compliance :
Assist in ensuring that the unit meets all state and federal regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits to continually enhance care services.
Maintain a thorough understanding of resident rights, privacy laws (HIPAA), and applicable long-term care regulations.
Communication & Collaboration :
Serve as a liaison between families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal care and satisfaction.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including incident reports, care plans, and progress notes.
Lead and participate in care conferences, team meetings, and resident / family meetings.
Qualifications : Education :
Current, valid nursing license in Arizona
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Certification in Nursing Administration, or willingness to obtain, preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of long-term care regulations, care planning, and clinical best practices.
Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling software is a plus.
