Electric Meter Site Tester

Candidates must have pertinent knowledge of various electrical forms and classes of single and three phase services and the use of CTs/PTs for energy measurement. Work will be conducted on behalf of Local Utilities with their customers to ensure metrology accuracy at metering locations.

Optimal Candidate: Seasoned Electrical Technician looking to work with RECs and Municipals. This job is a self-paced job requiring Site Inspection, Site Examination, Billing Revenue Accuracy Testing, Meter Testing, Issue Identification, and Site Reporting. Job will require regional short term stays in smaller communities throughout a portion of the United States. Position: Electric Meter Site Tester

Location: Gulf Shore States, Carolinas and Middle 1/3 of the United States

Job Type: Fulltime W2 Employee with great wages, complete benefit package including employee medical insurance, travel with lodging allowance, Company vehicle, Annual Tool and PPE budget, and daily Per Diem.

Job Description: Electrical Meter Site tester will perform a variety of tasks including: Site inspections, Voltage checks, Current checks, wiring verifications, phase angle tests, Ratio tests, Ct polarity, Ct Burden testing, Meter accuracy testing and issue identification. This work will be conducted by Allegiant on behalf of local utilities. The duration of each project will vary from 1 – 6 months. Access to the meters will be gained through Allegiant’s Work Order Management system (WOMs). All work conducted in the field will be captured in the Allegiant’s WOMs on a company provided iPhone. The Site tester will be provided with the appropriate test equipment to conduct the tests.

Regional Field Position:

• Monday thru Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm is the standard work schedule with overtime available. Saturday if available by the Utility
• Willingness to Travel is 100%
• Work Location on the road
• Work Duration: 4 weeks on with allowable 1 Week off without pay if desired. Home travel is supported by Allegiant if requested.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Installing, exchanging, and disconnecting both residential and self-contained, and transformer rated electric meters.
• Conduct Site Inspections: Identifying Form, Class, and Voltage of Electric services.
• Inspecting Meter Cabinets: defects, voltages, currents, abnormal usage proper installation, and functionality
• Identify incorrectly operating CTs: Incorrect installation, Shorted and Open secondaries.
• Verify CT Plates, Rating Factors, and Multiples to ensure proper us of CTs
• Identify Faulty connections, incorrect wiring, incorrect wire gauge, missing commons, and grounds.
• Conduct Site Diagnostic tests for Vector Diagrams, Harmonics and Waveform analysis.
• Conduct Burden Testing
• Conduct Meter Accuracy Testing
• Look for Suspect Tamper
• Verify meter accuracy under real-world operating conditions.
• Enter data collected in the field into WOMs application.
• Validate the Customer account information in the WOM system.
• Identify hazards at meter sites and report accordingly.

• Ability to use hand tools (powered and non-powered).
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to access crawl spaces and work outside in different weather conditions.

• Responsible for keeping company-assigned vehicle clean and orderly.
• This is a remote location position with regional travel.
• Candidate must pass pre-employment physical agility, background and drug screening.
• Additional projects as assigned.

Technicians should have:

• Experience in Electric Meter Site testing

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
