Job Overview:
The Surface Preparation Specialist is a crucial role within our manufacturing team, responsible for preparing TGP metal door and frame system parts surfaces for coating. This involves fitting metal glazing beads to each frame and performing final surface preparation according to required standard practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fitting metal glazing beads to assemblies with precision and accuracy
- Ensuring thorough final sanding and cleaning of product surfaces to be coated
- Developing Standard Operating Procedures for pre-finishing activities in collaboration with the team
- Maintaining a deep understanding of relevant safety regulations and ensuring compliance at all times
- Sustaining a clean work environment by properly disposing of trash, production scrap, and material drop-off, while also assisting in common area cleanup
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated ability to operate various power and hand tools, including applicators, sandblasting equipment, and pressure washing equipment
- Possess the skills necessary to set up rigging and safely operate lifts and small cranes as needed
- Able to accurately identify differences in color and provide high-quality internal customer service
- Willingness to perform tasks while working on ladders, elevated platforms, or lifts
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently
- Capable of receiving and providing instructions in a positive and professional manner
- Ability to work effectively in a hot and humid environment, maintaining alertness in high-risk situations
- Effective time management skills, with the ability to maintain schedules and tasks despite interruptions
Working Conditions:
- This position requires frequent standing, stooping, walking, twisting, bending, lifting, and moving heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), as well as occasional lifting and moving very heavy objects (up to 100 pounds)
- May involve working in an assembly plant/warehouse environment that can be dusty, with potential exposure to welding operations
- Production aids like overhead cranes and forklifts may be used to assist with these tasks

Compensation Details:
- Hourly non-exempt full-time employment
- Base hourly range: $17.70 - $27.66; actual compensation determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law
