POSITION SUMMARY:
"In House" Senior Level Prepress Specialist and Graphic Designer for Commercial Print Shop
Prioritizing workload/jobs to meet customer time requirements. You will perform daily and weekly file storage. This person is part of overall customer service and may be asked to assist with educating clients on services available or providing viable design solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Process all printing requests accurately and effectively within expected deadlines.
- Communicate with clients regarding art files, design, and job status.
- Typeset copy changes and perform design & layout work for clients
- Interpret customer requests and turn ideas into creative design elements and provide expected end products that represent the customer's vision.
- Utilize information on the job ticket to perform all prepress functions for preparing files to be printed.
- Preflight incoming art files for potential issues in areas such as font, images and color set-up and prepare files for print production.
- Make file corrections as needed or requested.
- Design, typeset and generate proofs for client approval
- After proofs are approved, prepare final output files for production based on the job ticket specifications.
- Create variable templates, perform merges, and generate output files for multiple variable data applications, including mail addressing according to USPS regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Participate in graphic communications, including but not limited to staying up to date on technology, understanding software updates and reviewing current processes regarding streamlining workflows.
- Keep the prepress work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow established departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in other areas of production as needed
- Able to use internal POS software
- Setup and maintain customer online direct ordering software such as Pressaro, eDocBuilder, etc.
- Ability to operate digital presses and large format printers and finishing as needed.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of formal education in graphic design
- Minimum of 5 years of full-time practical experience in graphic design, prepress print production and typesetting experience within agency or print shop environment
- Ability to work full-time (Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or equivalent agreed-to hours
- Must have proficient computer skills including email, internet, and data entry using PCs as we are a PC Shop.
- Proficient Adobe Creative Suite experience required – specifically InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat
- Experience operating digital printing equipment and large format printing equipment is a plus.
- Ability to communicate ideas visually, orally, and in writing
- Sound judgement, foresight, and creative problem-solving skills
- Organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, working independently with little or no direction
- Excellent proofing skills with an ability to read and apply math functions, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Able to listen effectively and adapt to changing conditions
- Detail oriented, with a strong sense of time management and fast-paced production orientation.
- Ability to prioritize work and minimize production downtime.
- Ability and willingness to learn new software and hardware technologies
- Ability to move freely throughout the building to gather information, materials, and authorizations
