What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Specialist position at Alleguard?
Job Summary
Responsible for the implementation of EHS processes at Alleguard locations and fully supporting operational leadership in the execution of EHS programs. In addition, will be responsible for assisting corporate EHS directives with a specific focus on environmental management and metrics management.
Responsibilities
- Directly supports EHS operations for the Alleguard organizations.
- Remain informed of all the new and changing regulations for the state and country of operations
- Serve as subject matter expert for internal EHS Management Software platform.
- Training of new and existing Plant Management on EHS fundamentals
- Assisting in reporting EHS incidents (injuries, chemical spills, etc.), reporting to corporate when required.
- Assist in creation and distribution of key monthly EHS metrics to all levels of the organization.
- Implementation and auditing of EHS programs and procedures
- Serve as point of contact for Building Products and Construction division site leadership and EHS committees, driving employee engagement in the EHS process
- Assist in development and implementation of centralized environmental management process
- Assist in the development of environmental training for all levels of organization
- Assist in management of environmental permitting requirements for all locations
- Coordinate with business leadership and onsite facility personnel on Capital Improvement Projects
- Support all facilities in the event of regulatory inspections and/or serious incident events
- Serve as point of contact for regulatory agencies for permit compliance, reporting, and inspections.
- Coordinate and manage disaster recovery protocols and business continuation planning
- Advise HR Business Partners on workers compensation case management.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelors’ degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management or a comparable area of focus is highly preferred with related education and training.
- 1-5 years’ experience in EHS, environmental management and multi-site experience preferred.
- Additionally, experience managing and implementing multiple EHS programs is preferred
Physical Demands
- Position requires sitting at a desk or workstation for extended period.
- Position requires manual/digital dexterity to support data entry for extended periods of time.
- Able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and spend extended periods of time in a manufacturing environment.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Travel
- 25-50% Travel Expected
- International Travel, including Canada and Mexico
- Passport Required
