Overview of Position:
Responsibilities of the role will include working directly with the attorneys, paralegals, and other legal assistants to file and prosecute patent applications in the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). The ideal candidate for this job has a skill set that includes the ability to multi-task, prioritize many projects with multiple people, self-motivate, and adhere to fast-paced deadlines.
Employees may work remotely from home on a hybrid basis. Currently, we ask our firm's Portland-area employees to work in the office a minimum of once per week on mandatory Wednesdays. Some additional in-office days may be required for this position. Our office is located in downtown Portland with easy access to public transportation.
This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of 37.5 - 40 hours per week. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Compensation & Benefits:
The starting wage range for this position is $18.50 - $20.00 per hour. Compensation will depend on experience of the successful applicant. We generally promote from within, and we offer performance-based opportunities for long term growth and commensurate advancement in compensation.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare letters, correspondence, forms, and other written materials
- Utilize electronic systems for submission of materials to the USPTO
- Enter, download, and review data using various computer software programs
- Respond to questions and requests for information from the USPTO and clients
- Research IP manuals to ensure compliance with USPTO rules and regulations
- Manage workflow, ensuring that deadlines are met and work is completed correctly
- May be responsible for mailing out letters and documents from the firm’s office building
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs and demonstrated ability to efficiently learn and use various computer programs
- Ability to complete detail-oriented tasks with a high degree of accuracy
- Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner
- Positive attitude and ability to communicate professionally with supervisors and colleagues
- A college degree is preferred, but not required
- Relevant professional experience is preferred, but not required
