General Summary
The Allen & Company Land Department is looking for a Field Ops Technician to work in an office setting with occasional field work and site visits. This candidate will be hands-on in scheduling, field packets preparation and daily communications with field and office staff.
This role reports to, works closely with, and takes direction from the Field Operations Manager.
Roles and responsibilities
- Field packet preparation.
- Assists Field Ops Manager with dispatching crews daily.
- Assists with maintenance of equipment.
- Helps with stakeout calculation as requested.
- Processes and verifies field data.
- Completes occasional field work, as assigned.
- Drives to sites and remote areas as needed to assist field crews.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of work assignments while adhering to established safety practices.
- Responsible for all Land department Field scheduling matters
- Performs work primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in all kinds of weather and locations.
- Assists in establishing CAD standards and utilizing these standards to minimize hours required to complete a task.
- Routinely operates the plotter, printer, scanner, and other necessary devices.
- Leverages programs such as Civil 3D for occasional assignments and tasks.
- Operates vehicles, equipment, and machinery in a safe manner.
- Consistently adheres to company procedures and protocols.
- Other duties as assigned by the Land Department Field Operations Manager and/or Land Department leadership.
Daily routines are as follows.
- Create field packets and have them ready for field crews each morning.
- Scheduling various Land Department production activities.
- Completes daily tasks as assigned.
- Review, edit, and submit jobs daily.
- Review field data for completeness and accuracy.
- Works closely with Field Operations Manager.
- Acts as conduit between office and field, communicating with Field Operations Manager, Project Mangers, and Field Crew personnel when needed to address issues.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Drafting & Design or related discipline preferred).
- Knowledge of Civil 3D.
- Drafting certification preferred.
- Computer skills in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Minimum one year of Land survey experience.
- Exposure to or entry-level proficiency in specialty areas such as CAD.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.
- Ability to understand/follow instructions and capable of sustaining regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, dig and lift up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands
- The familiar work environment for this position is an indoor business office environment with occasional outdoor/on-site visits. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, talk, or hear and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.
Availability/Schedule
- The core days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Travel
- This role may require local travel to sites.

Pay: $16.00 - $26.00 per hour
