As a Commercial Appraisal Deputy with the Allen County Assessor’s Office, you’ll play a key role in ensuring fair and accurate assessments of commercial and industrial properties. This is more than just a desk job—you’ll be out in the field, engaging with property owners, reviewing market trends, and shaping the county’s commercial tax landscape.

What You’ll Do
Be the expert—Assist taxpayers by answering questions about assessments and property sales.
Lead the way in fair property valuation—Conduct field inspections, analyze commercial property data, and ensure assessments meet state standards.
Investigate and resolve appeals—Meet with property owners, analyze real estate data, and negotiate settlements.
Make an impact—Present findings before the Property Tax Board of Appeals (PTBOA) and collaborate with legal professionals.
Stay ahead of market trends—Research market conditions, review real estate transactions, and apply valuation techniques to keep assessments accurate.
Work in the field—Visit commercial properties, review construction plans, and ensure assessments reflect real-world conditions.
What We’re Looking For
High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of experience in property valuation, commercial real estate assessment, or financial analysis.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Level III Indiana Assessor-Appraiser License within two years.
A valid driver’s license for on-site property assessments.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in valuation techniques, including cost, sales comparison, and income approaches.
Knowledge of Indiana Tax Court decisions, Indiana Code, and IAAO standards.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, CAMA, GIS, ACCELA, ArcPro, and other industry tools.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with property owners, attorneys, and real estate professionals.
