Full-Time Environmental Health Specialist
Service Area: Environmental Health
Reports to: Director of Environmental Health
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training - $21.40 – $25.19
Environmental Health Specialist - $21.66 - $26.44
Under general supervision of the Director of Environmental Health, the Environmental Health Specialist performs inspections, re-inspections and investigations, and prepares reports which determine compliance with state and local codes and regulations for Environmental Health Services programs
Program Areas of Responsibility:
· Food service operations and retail food establishments
· Sewage treatment systems
· Manufactured home parks
· Private water system evaluations and sample collection
· Public health nuisance abatement inspections
· Public swimming pools and spa
· Animal bite investigations and rabies quarantine
· School environment inspections
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related field
· Ability to obtain registration as an Environmental Health Specialist-In-Training, or registration as an Environmental Health Specialist, in Ohio
· Valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of auto liability insurance coverage
Working Conditions:
· Occasional overtime, night or weekend hours may be required
· Works within the Allen County Combined Health District; occasional travel outside the county
