Located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne, the Children's and Teens Departments are a destination for youth of all ages. With a 2,000 square foot StoryScape imaginative play center, bubbling saltwater and freshwater tanks, an impressive Reading Tower, as well as The Hive, an interactive learning center, our library space encourages children to learn, discover and explore. Our robust collection of materials, vibrant programming and well-established community partnerships reflect the diversity of the community we serve.
Branch assistants provide excellent customer service and operational support in our library branches. A typical day involves assisting our customers with registering for library cards, answering general questions, checking library materials in and out and providing computer and technical assistance.

This position is 40 hours per week and will include a mix of day, evening and weekend hours. While this candidate may work in either the children's or teen departments, they will typically be stationed in the children's department.
Successful candidates for this position are team players, adaptable, and passionate advocates for the library's role in service youth, families, and caregivers in our community.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent; AND one (1) year of customer service OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Starting pay is $13.77 per hour and up based on related and comparable work experience
