Are you ready to flex your brain, lab coat, and your keen eye for details this summer? Allen Flavors, Inc. is on the lookout for bright, science-loving interns to join our Quality Control team! We want you to help us make sure our delicious flavors meet the gold standard in the food and beverage world. It’s a chance to study the wonders of sensory science, master testing protocols, and conquer the art of analysis while getting to taste the products. Yes, you heard that right. Taste-testing is part of the gig!
What's the Scoop?
As a Summer Intern, you’ll dive deep into the science of what makes our products top-notch. This is your chance to build real-world skills in a hands-on environment. You’ll work with all the fancy equipment—GC, FTIR, UV Spectrophotometer, and a bunch of other gadgets you can brag about later at your next science club meeting.
Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It):
- Lab Pro: Perform analysis using equipment like GC, GC-MS, FTIR, UV Spectrophotometer, Refractometer, Densitometer, Melting Point Apparatus, and pH Meter.
- Data Master: Record and manage data across multiple systems, ensuring products meet specifications.
- Documentation Pro: Keep filing and documentation organized and up-to-date.
- Sensory Panelist: Participate in sensory panels to evaluate products and ingredients.
- Lab Skills: Weigh ingredients accurately and maintain high lab standards.
- Quality Detective: Evaluate incoming ingredients and ensure they meet required specifications.
- Collaborator: Support other technicians under the guidance of our Analytical Chemist and Supervisor.
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Education: Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biology. GPA flex: 3.0 or higher in related courses.
- Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Bonus points if you know how to create colorful pie charts!
- Super Organized: Attention to detail is your middle name.
- Communication Skills: Whether you're writing reports or chatting with the team, you’ve got the gift of gab (and grammar).
Details You’ll Want to Know:
- Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week
- Duration: 10-12 weeks (May/June through July/August)
