The primary responsibility of the Assistant Plant Manager is to manage, direct and coordinate overall plant operations. Through supervisors and managers assures safety, continuous improvement, quality, cost and production objectives are met or exceeded. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Support the Vision, Mission and Values of Allen Harim
- Will serve as backup to the Plant Manager
- Develops and implements Action Plans and Key Performance initiatives to meet annual budget, Operating Plan, Balanced Scorecard, and Agristat’s metrics.
- Develop initiatives to achieve performance, quality and safety standards and ensure achievement of manufacturing goals.
- Provides guidance to the manufacturing process plan; including personnel requirements, material needs and facility needs.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions of organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines and equipment.
- Lead continuous process improvement within plant operations.
- Ensure compliance of all OSHA, USDA, FDA, HACCP programs, state and federal laws and regulations. Commitment to superior quality and safety.
- Interpret safety policies/practices to employees including enforcing safe work practices.
- Utilize available data including line speed target, set-up guidelines (POG), efficiency and process data to continuously improve productivity, uptime and reliability.
- Assures that organizational production objectives are met.
- Address safety, production, quality, personnel, customer and regulatory issues in a timely fashion as required.
- Continually coach, direct and train employees utilizing Lean principles.
- Monitor employees’ work performance and attitude and perform formal reviews as required by policy.
- Coach and counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job skill deficiencies.
- Conduct regular meetings with plant staff to ensure all operational issues are being communicated and addressed expediently with a common understanding of goals.
- Assist in developing and responsible for budgets, policies and procedures.
- Utilize key performance indicators to improve plant performance and profitability.
- All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Strong organizational, people management/team building, leadership and communication skills.
- 10 plus years in Management
- Union, Safety, and Workers Compensation experience preferred.
- Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer-based applications.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees.
