We are looking for an Accounting Representative to join our team! The Accounting Representative’s work directly with a large customer/account on behalf of the operational offices to move truckload and LTL volumes of dry, refrigerated and flatbed cargo. This job is varied and requires discretion and independent thought, therefore an exact description can’t be standardized. If this is you, or you like a challenge– let’s talk.
You will
Manage and distribute EDI loads within office
Manage and distribute manual tenders to various offices
Provide daily service reporting
Manage and update the daily service reports for problem loads
Communicate with customer traffic departments on daily issues
Coordinate off contract bidding with value-added service
Maintain and increase ALC’s image and reliability with customers
Rate Negotiation
Have up to date knowledge of market freight rates in order to determine a “fair” price to charge the
customer.
Loading Procedures
Have specific knowledge regarding product compatibility and shipping requirements for dry loads and temperature requirements and maintenance when handling refrigerated loads.
Load Routing
Determine optimal loading patterns and delivery options using their own creativity in order to minimize time and miles traveled, based on customer need and logistical constraints.
After Hours Contact
Account Representatives occasionally make themselves available for after office hours contact throughout the night and weekends In order to be of assistance to after hour callers.
Lund University
Complete ALC system training as required
Skills and Experience
Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player who excels in a fast-paced environment
Experience in Freight Brokerage/customer service is a plus
Excellent and effective communication skills
Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic
Ability to quickly process information and make decisions
Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, and ability to handle conflict
Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multitask
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
