Summary

Vessel Support team member is responsible for assisting the Alaskan Dream Cruises vessels / crew by ensuring all vessels get what they need / requested on their tun days, assisting with turn days onboard, picking up / dropping off crew members to / from airport as well as into town and hotels as needed throughout the season, jumping on a vessel should they experience crew shortages and assisting the linen team if needed. The vessel support position is responsible for giving our crew an exceptional first and last impression of Alaskan Dream Cruises and support them as much as possible through many different functions on and off the vessel. This position is $20 / hr. Crew pooled gratuity will not be distributed to this shoreside position when employee is assigned to a vessel as their rate remains the same when working onboard.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist all Alaskan Dream Cruises crew at the airport and provide direct transportation to vessels / hotels.
  • Work with luggage service at airport if crew luggage has been lost / damaged.
  • Monitor changing flights and accommodation schedules to anticipate transportation needs.
  • Assist startup / shutting down the vessels through cleaning, inventory and organized tasks.
  • Work with Operations Manager / Director of Hotel Operations in getting vessels everything they need / ordered for turn day.
  • Assist vessels onboard on turn days with stores (US Foods deliveries), assist with housekeeping and flipping the vessels.
  • Keep ADC office clean, organized, inventoried & stocked
  • Store Runs for vessels as needed (including picking up weekly orders from vendors)
  • In charge of crew uniforms, inventory, distribution and nametags
  • Warehouse maintenance / inventory.
  • Maintain awareness of basic safety rules, workplace safety and respect for the environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Hotel Operations Manager / Director of Hotel Operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be minimum 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record.
  • Always present a professional and friendly attitude to guests and crew.
  • Must pass a security background check and DOT drug test.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience or education in the tourism / hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of Sitka including local attractions, accommodations, and restaurants.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be physically able to work a flexible workday of about 12-16 hours per day, seven days a week.
  • Environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, ambient inside lighting, ambient to loud noise levels, all weather conditions, occasional use of required protective clothing including raingear.
